A cool bar for your inner hipster, situated in downtown’s Arts District.
The Velveteen Rabbit, located on the west edge of the Arts District in downtown Las Vegas, combines a homey feel with industrial chic décor. The space has a whimsical atmosphere, possibly inspired by its name. Many of you may remember reading The Velveteen Rabbit, published originally in 1922, as your favorite children’s novel about a stuffed rabbit that wants to become real, but can only do so through the love of its owner.
The lighting is dark inside the wooden plank façade of the Rabbit with dark, textured wallpaper, a long wood bar, and upholstered loveseats and chairs that you might think came from your grandmother’s living room. The hanging bulbs provide a soft illumination that feels cozy, especially at each table that offers a curious space of its own with some uniqueness to stumble upon.
The draft beer taps behind the bar are topped by mannequin hands and the cocktail menu features crafted “Elixirs”, many of which are fresh and fruity. A number of draft and bottled beers – a mix of popular brand and lesser known ones – are written on a chalkboard. Aside from peanuts to snack on, there is no food served at the Velveteen Rabbit.
With all of its quirks and charms, the Velveteen Rabbit is a must see for the 21+ crowd, despite its small size. The best part is, it won’t put a dent in your wallet!

Experience the gorgeous, American Southwest!

Park visitors can experience breathtaking vistas of Yovimpa and Inspiration Points, while hikers often take trails through landscapes like Fairyland Loop and Under the Rim Trail. Bryce Canyon is especially popular with summer travelers in favor of the alpine climate, which makes a great place for cross country skiing. Rattle snakes and short-horned lizards in addition to meadows filled with a wide array of plant life are abundant in the park.

A chocolate lover’s playground.
The Bellagio Pâtisserie, located in the Spa Tower at Bellagio, delivers a light, casual dining atmosphere that serves up soups, salads, and sweets. The restaurant offers sweets like decadent chocolates of all kinds that can be displayed in decorative boxes.
Over 80 bakers make up the Bellagio Pâtisserie team, with all items made fresh and on-site in the kitchen below the storefront. No preservatives are used, therefore, the chocolate has a shelf life of about two weeks and should be stored at room temperature. Pastries likely won’t last too long – as they are too delicious to resist – but, should be consumed the same day for peak freshness.
The highlight of Bellagio Pâtisserie is the floor-to-ceiling chocolate fountain. The Pâtisserie holds the official world record, recognized by Guiness World Records, for having the largest chocolate fountain in the world, standing at 26-feet 3 and 3/16-inches tall. The fountain circulates nearly two tons of melted dark, milk, and white chocolate in front of the patisserie, surrounded by 300-pound glass viewing panels. This is a great sight for the kids and adults alike.
Stop by any time of year and see the beautifully crafted chocolate sculptures that act as the centerpiece to the Pâtisserie. The sculptures change seasonally and are ornate works of edible art.

Nightlife isn’t the only wild experience in Las Vegas!
Have you ever wanted to come face to face with white lions, white tigers, leopards and a family of bottlenose dolphins? Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage provides you with the opportunity to interact with nature’s most exotic animals!
For years, Siegfried & Roy worked to help save endangered animals, primarily white tigers and lions, resulting in this facility that opened in 1990. The beautiful attraction displays six different showcases of white tigers and lions in addition to leopards, bringing an experience to visitors atypical of animals you’d see in the wild. You’ll be amazed by the gorgeous large cats—especially the white striped and snow white tigers that are seemingly unreal with their distinctive fur color and crystal blue eyes.
The Secret Garden is dedicated to preserving these animals from extinction and also provides visitors the opportunity to gain a better understanding and awareness about them. Make your way through the habitat, noting the lush greenery and jungle-themed music with a towering lion figure made from plants. Learn fun facts about the animals written on plaques spread throughout the facility and admire some of the built-in waterfalls in some of the cats’ resting areas.
Large cats aren’t the only wildlife you’ll find at the Secret Garden—visitors can also visit the Dolphin Habitat, a research facility designed to educate people about these amazing animals. The dolphins don’t perform on a regular schedule, but they can be found displaying natural playfulness, “tail walking” across water, catching fish or bonding with each other. This is the perfect chance to get an up-close and personal look at their intriguing lifestyle.
If you’re interested in getting a little more involved with the dolphins, you can choose from a couple different programs such as Painting With the Dolphins where you can collaborate on creating an original piece of art and Trainer for a Day, where you can suit up and get up close with the animals! At the end of the Trainer for a Day program, you can take home a CD of photos collected through the day from your experience.

About 40 cats are housed in glass enclosures with safety barriers in Henderson, Nevada. Learn fun and fascinating facts, like how African lions eat together as humans do, as you walk around the area. You’ll discover plenty of interesting tidbits about this species during your visit.
To make sure the lions look so well-groomed all the time, the trainers lend a helping hand by shampooing their fur with baby shampoo, followed by a blow-dry treatment. If you’re especially lucky, you’ll have the chance to see the trainers hand-feeding the lions or joining in on playtime. Visitors even have the opportunity to experience three- or four-hour training sessions with the lions, at a starting rate of $800.
Interested in feeding the animals? Lion Habitat Ranch is also home to giraffes. Enjoy the opportunity to hand feed giraffes for $20 per person, lions for $100 per person per pound of food, or $150 for two persons splitting the food supply!

A world-renowned structure that will have you in utter awe.
The Hoover Dam was built during the Great Depression, when thousands of men and their families came to Black Canyon to tame to the Colorado River. It is a testimony to a country’s ability to construct colossal projects during adverse conditions. In less than five years, in a harsh and barrel land, the largest dam of its time was built and stores enough water in Lake Mead to irrigate two million acres, while also serving as a popular tourist destination. The Dam is a National Historic Landmark and has been rated by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of America’s Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders.
Hoover Dam is one of the Bureau of Reclamation’s major dams constructed to control floods, store water for irrigation, municipal and industrial use. In addition, it also provides hydroelectric power, year-round recreational opportunities, and fish and wildlife habitat.

A truly unique gallery experience, inspired by Cirque du Soleil.
Have you ever heard of the neo-figurative movement? If not, you aren’t alone, but that doesn’t change the fact that Richard MacDonald is shaking things up with his gallery inspired by the wonders of Cirque du Soleil. You don’t need to know a single thing about art to figure out why he’s celebrated all over the world! Head over to the “O” Theatre lobby for an awe-inspiring experience.
The subject matter in this gallery is striking and superhuman, to say the least, as it captures the “epically bendy” Cirque performers. The essence of movements captured by the acrobats, dancers, and contortionists, is astounding and MacDonald makes sure to incorporate the muscle mass that most Americans don’t have in each piece. Not only will onlookers wonder how the models got into their poses, but also how MacDonald recreated them so perfectly.
There are more than 50 bronze sculptures featured in the gallery at the “O” Theatre – some even took eight years to complete. Once you see them, you’ll know why. Many of the pieces are set at angles that will make you tilt your head to the side as you take in MacDonald’s portrayal of the appreciation, grace, strength, and poise of the entertainers. You might even start rethinking that cupcake you had for lunch.

Amazing scenery, vivid colors and incredible rock formations.
Valley of Fire is considered Nevada’s oldest state park with its official opening in 1935 and covers an area of almost 36,000 acres. With rocks that flow with an unusual bright crimson color, Valley of Fire gets its name from its fiery red sandstone. The formations found within the park are the result of fossilized sandstone and sand dunes which formed over 150 million years ago by a shift in the Earth’s crust, faulting and wind and water erosion.
Year round, you can find animals such as rattlesnakes, kangaroo rats, kit foxes, coyotes, bighorn sheep and the white-tailed antelope ground squirrels along with many other wild animals that inhabit the area. Petroglyphs are also scattered throughout the park, so be sure to keep an eye out for these ancient Native American sketches at Atlatl Rock, Mouse’s Tank, Rainbow Vista, the cabin area, Seven Sisters and Elephant Rock.
Visitors can look forward to a variety of recreational activities at Valley of Fire, including a relaxing swim at Roger Springs during the warmer months in addition to hiking or rock climbing in various areas.

Constructed on an actual prehistoric Pueblo site, the museum itself is made from sun-dried adobe brick with reconstructed Anasazi pueblos also featured on site. South Paiute baskets, pottery, jewelry and tools are some of the artifacts you may see at Lost City Museum.
